A resurgent the Russian player secured his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult period, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

Currently working with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.

This represents the player's initial trophy following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court from spring of the previous year.

However the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and perform assertively, supported by an better serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, winning four of the last five points to take the lead.

Both players exchanged breaks in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour championship, took control to create a third set.

He rescued 4 early break points in a competitive deciding set before the Russian broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned victory with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to control a return after over two and a half hours.
