Close to 25,000 Experiencing Electricity in Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Severe Storms
Nearly twenty-five thousand households in southeastern Queensland found themselves lacking electricity on Monday's dawn after severe thunderstorms impacted the area, bringing strong winds hitting over 100 km/h.
Large Ice Stones and Widespread Impact
Homeowners reported large ice chunks as large as 7 centimeters in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that multiple regions across Queensland had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency crews were focused on reestablishing energy supply throughout the damaged zones, with nearly 70 crews activated to address the numerous electricity disruptions.
Southern State's Climate Difficulties
Meanwhile, nearly 1,000 households in the southern state also encountered electricity disruptions after the metropolitan area recorded its wettest day in over 500 days.
Rescue organizations received nearly 600 calls for help across the region, mostly for structural issues but also for collapsed vegetation and inundation.

At one point on yesterday, in excess of 28k energy customers in the state were without power.
Weather Forecast
Damp conditions were expected to linger along much of the state's eastern regions this coming days as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coast.
The following day was forecast to be the most rainy day, with ongoing storm activity expected across various areas of both regions.
Safety Concern
Public health experts alerted that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the countryside regions, specifically given the ongoing climate situation.
This warning comes after past events where similar conditions led to substantial respiratory problems in the state.
